    Comparatives


    A) Comparative of Superiority (+):

    *If the adjective is short (1 or 2 syllables)

    Example: He is older than his brother.

    adj+er+than

    *If the adjective is long (more than 2 syllables)

    Example: He is more intelligent than his brother.

    more+adj+than

    B) Comparative of Inferiority (-):

    Example: He is less intelligent than his brother.

    less+adj+than

    C) Comparative of Equality (=):

    Examples:

    He is as intelligent as his brother.

    He is as strong as his brother.

    as+adj+as

    N.B.: There are  irregular Comparatives of Superiority:

    Good->Better

    Bad->Worse

    Examples: -My chocolate is better than yours.   -Your chocolate is worse than mine.
