    Exclamatives: 2

Let's go on studying exclamations ...The exclamatory sentences modifying a noun  are a little more complicated and require some thinking.  They are built with  WHAT and SUCH:

    1) Constructions with WHAT:

    a) Countable nouns are preceded by the indefinite article : (Pay attention to the word order: in English, you shoud never reverse the subject/verb in exclamatory sentences).

    -  What a wonderful car your father has!

You may omit the subject and the verb too.

    -  What a marvel! (= What a marvel it is!)

In the plural, the noun obviously won't have an indefinite article!

    -  What fashionable swim suits you have, girls!

A few exceptions: a few uncountables are built with the indefinite  article:

    - What a pity ! What a shame !

    - What a mess! Tidy up your room, immediately !

    - What a nuisance ! We'll have to walk there!

    2) Constructions with SUCH: corresponding to the noun to what SO is for the adjective.

Exceptions are the same as for WHAT.

    -  It's such a nice beach!

    - They're such cute kids!

    -  It's such a pity!

    -  She has such a sense of humour!

The second step is reached... You can take the test, now! It will be easy, as, in a desire to go progressively, I will suggest only what was explained in the lesson. The mix of all the different possibilities will be for the following exercise!
