    2004 is an election year in the United States. In November, voters will elect a president and a new Congress as well as 11 state governors.

    President Bush (LEARN MORE) has no Republican opposition as he runs for a second term.

    Senator John Kerry (LEARN MORE) won the Democratic Party’s nomination, enabling him to challenge President Bush as the other main candidate in the U.S. general election in November.

    Consumer advocate Ralph Nader (LEARN MORE) is running as an independent candidate, having failed to win the nomination of any party.
