    Sir Alexander Mackenzie was a Scottish explorer (1755/1820 )
    In June 1789, Mackenzie a fur trader embarked on his first remarquable journey from Fort Chipewyan. He travell the length of the Do Cho River in an amazing forteen days … but reached the Arctic Ocean. Ending up at the wrong ocean was such a disappointment, that Mackenzie named the river : the river of Disappointment. It’s now call the Mackenzie River, in his honour
    . Mackenzie set off on his next adventure on October 12, 1792. He still relied almost totally on Native people to provide food and supplie , to paddle his canoe and to show him the way. Experiencing great hardship and suffering, they reach the Pacific Ocean after a gruelling journey over the coastal mountains. Mackenzie left an inscription rock. People can still read today
    . After his two epic adventures, Mackenzie wrote a book and in 1802 King George III knighted him for his outstanding Canadian explorations
    . Sir Alexander Mackenzie realized the dream of a Canada stretching from sea to sea
