    Federico García Lorca was born Fuente Vaqueros, Granada the 5th of June, 1898 and died the 19th of August, 1936. His life spanned the years the Year of Disaster and the Spanish Civil War ultimately victimized him. He travelled Spain and America, principally Argentina, living and writing some the most beautiful poetry ever written. Lorca's poetry and plays combine elements Andalusian folklore with sophisticated and surrealistic poetic techniques, cut all social and educational barriers. His poetry has been translated a dozen languages. August 19, 1936, Falangist soldiers dragged Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca a field, shot him and tossed his body into unmarked grave. . Franco's government tried obliterate Lorca's memory His books were prohibited, name forbidden but he quickly became an almost mythical figure, a symbol of all the victims political oppression.
