    Number idioms


    In English there are many idioms with numbers , even if some of them seem to be more popular than others.

    Let's begin with ordinal numbers.-

    to give the high five/ to give five= to show  approbation and satisfaction to another person  

    on cloud nine = very very happy 

    two of a kind =  very very similar 

    five o'clock shade =  at the end of the day 

    to be dressed up to the nines =   to be very smartly dressed

    nine-to-five job = a boring  job 

    at sixes and sevens = in a state of confusion 

    two's a company, three's a crowd =  better not too many people 

    one in a thousand =  very few 

     by the dozens  =  a  great many 

    as one = to do something all together 

    to owe someone one = to  be in debt of a favour
