Bird populations are collapsing due to pesticides. It is a slow and progressives decrease, not a massive extinction. But in fact, it is just as alarming. The problems is not that birds are being poissoned, but that the insects on which they depend for food have disappeered. There are hardly any insects left. Bird populations have dropped. More than 400 millions birds have disappeared in 30 years.

Shrinking woodlands, the absence of the once commun practice of letting fields lie fallow and especially rapidly expanding expanses of mono-crops have each play a role in the collapse of bird populations.

Silent spring, without songs of birds? It is unfortunatelly what will happen if we do not react quickly. There exist solutions and practices that respect the environement, nature and birds. This is essentiel, would be this only for agriculture itself, which cannot do without from the birds and insects.
