Stop to do sth or stop doing sth

I have taken my time and stopped my other work to write this tutorial, because it is important that you stop ignoring the difference between

"stop to do sth" and "stop doing something".

    "Stop to do sth"

You interrupt or stop another activity in order to do something else (which is more important at the moment).

So "stop to do sth" can always be replaced by "stop in order to do sth".

    Example:

I stopped to make a short break. Then I continued working.

    "Stop doing something"

    Example:

I stopped gaining weight by starting a diet.

In the following test, make the right choice between "stop to do sth" or "stop doing something".
