    The ' Tristan da Cunha ' group is an which consists of 5 islands, Tristan da Cunha itself and smaller islands: Inaccessible Island and Nightingale Islands. It is a dependency of the British territory of Saint Helena. Tristan is in the South Atlantic Ocean, 2816km from Cape of Good Hope and 3360km from South America. It lies in the (37° S) and the weather is liable to sudden drastic changes. Tristan is an active island, the only flat area is the location of the capital ' Edinburgh of the seven seas '. It is a small village which just over 300 people. This territory is considered one of the most human settlements in the world. In 1961 earth began to disturb the islanders. Then a volcanic eruption forced the of the entire population. They were at Calshot Camp near Southampton. Unable to resist the British several of older islanders died. Almost all chose to return to the island when the eruption was . The surrounding seas are rich in fish Tristan with one of its main sources of revenue: crayfish. The other main source of is the sale of stamps which are collected by philatelists all over the world. Tristan now has a connection to the world by satellite telephone.
