    Mummification

    • Read about mummification.
    • Why mummies? A very long time ago, the Ancient Egyptians put their dead in pits in the desert. The hot sun and the sand dehydrated the bodies, creating natural 'mummies'.
    • But sometimes animals ate them, so they were forced to put their dead in coffins.
    • To preserve the bodies, they developped a technique of 'mummification'.
    - a pit = un trou
