    verbe = be ( être )

     

    am, is, are, was, were

    To make questions using the verb 'to be' you simply place it in front of the sentence. 

    Am I late ? / Are you tired ?/ Was she at home ? / Were they ill ?

     

     

    Yes + sujet + auxiliaire :

    ex => Yes, you are.

    No + sujet + auxiliaire + négation :

    ex => No, she wasn't.

    verbe = have ( avoir) has, have, had

    Has he eaten ?

    Had Bob begun ?

    Have you decided ?

    Yes + sujet + auxiliaire :

    ex => Yes, he has.

    No + sujet + auxiliaire + négation :

    ex => No, I haven't.

    verbe = 1 verbe ordinaire ( au présent simple ou au prétérit )

    You already know that to make interrogative sentences we need an auxiliary. In the present we used DO and DOES For the past tense we use DID.

    Do you live here ?

    Does he practise every day ?

    Did she agree ?

    Yes + sujet + auxiliaire :

    ex =>Yes, I do.

    No + sujet + auxiliaire + négation :

    ex => No, she didn't.

    can = pouvoir (capacité) can

    Can she play tennis ?

    Can you run fast ?

    Yes + sujet + can :

    ex => Yes, she can.

    No + sujet + can + négation : ex => No, I can't.

    may = pouvoir ( permission ) may

    May I come with you ?

    May he come too ?

    Yes + sujet + may :

    ex => Yes, you may.

    No + sujet + must + négation :

    ex => No, he mustn't.

    must = devoir must

    Must you go now ?

    Must you phone first ?

    Yes + sujet + must :

    ex => Yes, I must.

    No + sujet + need + négation :

    ex => No, I needn't.

    question au futur will

    Will she be ready ?

    Will you play with me ?

    Yes + sujet + will :

    ex => yes, she will.

    No + sujet + will + négation : ex => No, I won't.

    question au conditionnel would

    Would she be happy ?

    Would they believe me ?

    Yes + sujet + would :

    ex => Yes, she would.

    No + sujet + would + négation :

    ex => No, they wouldn't.

    • Test : trouver l'auxiliaire = 1 mot qui commencera la question correspondant à la réponse donnée.
    • Se demander quelle question a pu être posée pour que l'on réponde ainsi.
