    1. M. Twain was born Samuel Langhorne Clemens in Missouri in the November 1835.

    2. His family didn't settled in Hannibal, a small township on the Mississippi.

    3. He lived in Hannibal until he was ageing eighteen.

    4. After his father's death in 1847 Clemens has left school.

    5. He became a printer's apprentice, was working on the Missouri Courier.

    6. From in 1853 he travelled widely as a journeyman printer in the East and Middle West.

    7. He gave up in 1857 and in favour of becoming a steamboat pilot.

    8. After eighteen months's apprenticeship he became a licensed pilot.

    9. His time on the river down proved a rich source of inspiration for his later writing.

    10. While as he was there he met 'all the different types of

    11. human nature that are to be found of in fiction, biography or history'.

    12. The outbreak of Civil War in 1861's brought an end to all river traffic...
