                 Adjectifs de '1 syllabe'                the + adjectif + est
      1.   tall,   small, old   the tallest,    the smallest,    the oldest
     2.     s'ils se terminent par consonne-voyelle-consonne on double la consonne finale
          hot,   sad,    slim    the hottest,   the saddest,    the slimmest
     3.       S'ils se terminent par la lettre 'e' celle-ci n'est pas répétée, on ajoute 'st'
        nice,  ripe   the nicest,   the ripest
     4.   Adjectifs de '1 ou 2 syllabes' terminés par 'y'       la lettre 'y' est remplacée par 'i'
         shy,   easy,   pretty  the shiest,  the easiest,  the prettiest
     5.  Adjectifs de '2 syllabes' (sans y final) et plus             the most + adjectif
        famous, beautiful  the most famous, the most beautiful
      6.  adj. de 2 syllabes avec finale en -ow, -le, -er the + adj. + est   ou      the most + adj.
    yellow yellowest   ou     the most yellow
    simple simplest     ou     the most simple

          bad  the worst (le pire, le plus mauvais)

                                               quelques remarques
      8.                Pour certains adjectifs il n'existe que la forme superlative
                   the last,    the first le dernier,   le premier
      9.                   Le superlatif est suivi des prépositions 'in' ou 'of' (parfois sous-entendues)
                              on emploie de préférence 'in'
    lorsque le complément représente un lieu ou des personnes
    the highest mountain in the world.

                             'of' dans les autres cas

    Katrina was one of the worst hurricanes

                                             Superlatif (infériorité)
     10.             pour tous les adjectifs                   the least + adjectif                
     This is the least interesting book in the library C'est le livre le moins intéressant de la bibliothèque
     pour les adjectifs courts on préfère éviter le superlatif d'infériorité on remplacera par exemple
                the least tall  (le moins grand)                             par       the smallest     (le plus petit)
     11.      Lorsqu'on fait un constat on utilise avec le superlatif ' ever + present perfect'
                                           It's the most (the least) beautiful city I've ever visited

      This is the most frightening and the least mysterious police movie we have ever seen.
