One day, Sir Lancelot du Lac prepared himself and rode out of Camelot looking for some adventures. So after many long days, he reached a dark forest full of tall oak trees. There he stopped for a while and wondered which path he would take, because there were many paths through the tall trees.  Meanwhile, he saw a hunting dog come  and run along one of the paths, so Lancelot decided to follow that dog.  On his way, Lancelot discovered that there was a trail of blood along the path, so he continued on his way until he reached a large house.

As soon as Lancelot entered the house he saw a knight with a black armour lying on the floor, so he advanced towards that knight and  discovered that the knight’s body was covered with blood, in fact he was dead. Suddenly, he heard someone crying outside, immediately he hurried out to the garden, there he saw a lady covering her face and crying.  When he came closer he asked that lady why she was crying, then the lady looked at Lancelot and said that her husband Sir Gilbert had been killed by Sir Meliot, but Meliot was seriously injured during the fight and he would die sooner or later.

Sir Lancelot looked again at that lady and  saw a red mark on her face, then he informed her that he knew Sir Meliot, because he was brave, also one of the Knights of the Round Table. Unexpectedly, the lady yelled loudly and ordered Lancelot to go away otherwise she would curse him; she also informed Lancelot that she was a sorceress and she could use magic against him,  because a few moments  ago, she had cursed Sir Meliot so his wound would never heal.  Again and with a loud voice she ordered Lancelot to disappear as soon as possible.

Sir Lancelot got onto his horse, then he left the garden and followed that hunting dog until they came to another large house in the middle of the forest.  There, Lancelot saw another lady, who was crying too, but when he came closer she stood up and told Lancelot that she knew him, then she introduced herself and said that she was Sir Meliot’s sister.  The lady continued on speaking and said that Lady Gilbert was an evil sorceress and she had cursed her brother so his wounds would never heal. At that time, Lancelot got off his horse and went with that lady into the house. There, he found Sir Meliot lying on the ground, then the lady walked towards her brother and informed Lancelot that lady Gilbert the sorceress informed her that only a piece of cloth from the Chapel Perilous could heal the wounds of her brother. Sir Lancelot looked at the lady and said that he would ride immediatley to Chapel Perilous and bring that piece of cloth.
