New-Zealand is 19, 000 km away from France, in the southern hemisphere, right in the Pacific Ocean, south-east of Australia and south of New-Caledonia. It comprises two mains montainous islands who are very aptly named North Island for the one in the north and South Island for the one in the south. With its 270, 534 km² it is only half as larger as France and extend over 1600 km north to south, down to the 53rd degree of latitude. As there are only four and a half million peoples leaving there, there is plenty of living space and due to their highly developped civic sense, the country is very clean. New-Zealand is located on a geological fault, so earthquakes are not rare. This is probably the prize to pay to see magnificient geological phenomena.
