    Vous confondez ces mots?  Alors une petite révision s'impose.

     

    Last = le précédent. I went to New-York City last week. (= la semaine dernière, la semaine précédente).

     

    The last = le tout dernier.  I was the last man to get in.  They closed the doors behind me.

    (Plus personne d'autre n'a pu entrer.  J'étais donc le tout dernier). 

    Notez bien qu'au pluriel l'article défini 'the' disparait et il ne reste plus que 'last' ce qui complique encore un peu les choses.

     

    (The) latest = le dernier en date. I've heard this in the latest news.

    (Lors des dernières informations: celles de midi mais il y en aura d'autres ce soir.)

     

    (The) Latter = le dernier des deux. She has 2 daughters.  The former is short and the latter is tall.

    (La première est petite et la deuxième, la dernière des deux, est grande).
