Lavender Fairy

THE   LAVENDER   FAIRY 

Ceci est l'œuvre de Cicely Mary Barker extraite de son ouvrage intitulé 'The Flower Fairies'.

                    We can imagine that this marvellous lavender fairy is about ten years old. She looks so childlike and so pretty! She is slender. Her brown hair is rather long and wavy. It's so shiny and colourful that it reminds us of chestnuts.  Her eyebrows are the same colour as her hair. She's got large bright purple eyes. She's got a cute little turned-up nose. Her cheeks are pinkish. Her smile is enchanting. She's got two pairs of whitish wings. They are slightly mauve at their ends. We can see purple spots on them.

                    She's wearing a small striped blouse with short sleeves. It is mauve, purple and green. Her skirt is short, purple and flounced. Her belt is made of lavender flowers. She doesn't like wearing shoes. She prefers walking bare-footed, on her tiptoes.

                    She's standing in a field of lavender and she's holding the stem of her flower. She's tenderly looking at us.

                    She looks happy but also a bit mischievous. We have the feeling that she's on the point of doing something stupid. She perhaps has the intention of catching the butterfly which is flying around her in order to get another pair of wings! She loves singing and playing. One of her favourite games is to twirl around a lavender stem until she feels quite dizzy! Her best friends are the butterflies which are always flying around her. They often play hide and seek!!!
