Because Gwen Stefani says "If I was a rich girl........" but everybody else says "If I were". And I don't think Gwen Stefani would make such mistakes... So is there a difference ? Are the two forms correct ?-------------------

It is not the right place, that's true, but I'll answer you.
After "if" we sometimes use "were" instead of "was", especially in written English and when saying "if I were you...". It is the subjunctive form of "to be".

It's the subjunctive past, which is used for the irreal mood; the subjunctive present of "to be" is "be".

Magma, il faut que tu (ou bien Gwen Stefani) prenne un cours de logique!
La phrase "If I had all the money in the world, I would be a rich girl" est bien vraie (puisque Gwen est bien une fille) , mais cela n'implique pas "If I were a rich girl, I'd have all the money in the world", parce qu'il y a beaucoup du monde qui sont riches mais qui n'ont pas tout l'argent du monde.

"If I was" (simple past) et "If I were" (subjunctive past)
If + simple past fait un hypothèse sur le passé qui peut bien être vrai.
If I was at yesterday's party, why don't I remember it? Did I drink too much?
If + subjunctinve past fait un hypothèse sur le présent qui l'on concède est faux.
If I were heavier, my body could tolerate more alcohol.
Ce n'est qu'avec "to be" qu'il y a ces deux formes (was/were). Avec tout autre verbe les formes simple past et subjunctive past sont identiques.
If I had this money last year, why didn't I spend it?
If I still had this money now, I could still spend it! (But I don't, so I can't.
