hi! this is the story of my scottish trip, can you correct my mistakes please???? thank you very much
In the morning, we came up to Calton Hill. Calton Hill is one of Edinburgh's main hills, set right in the city centre. It is unmistakable with its Athenian acropolis poking above the skyline.
The acropolis is in fact an unfinished monument - originally called the "National Monument". Initiated in 1816, a year after Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo, it was meant to be a replica of the Parthenon in Athens, as a memorial to those who had died in the Napoleonic Wars. Me, in front of the National Monument:
On Thursday the 12th, we discovered the Trossachs, a Scotland’s region renowned for its lochs and its forests. We did a 14miles long hike around Loch Katrine. We were lucky to have a nice weather: it was sunny, without any wind and not too warm. Although during the hike we were dispersed, there was no accident and it reigned a good atmosphere: I was with Anne-Solenne and Etienne, we had great talks.
After this walk, we went visit Callander, a typical small town of the Trossachs. I was hungry therefore I ate an ice-cream and I bought some sweets. Sorry, they weren’t of this world anymore. (Sweet’s wrappings)
On Friday the 13th, we went to Galashiels in order to visit the Lochcarron Scottish Cashmere and Wool Centre. We witnessed at the tartan’s fabrication and we could take some tartan’s trimmings. The one who showed us the visit was very friendly. He asked us if we had already tasted the Haggis, we answered no and he said “You have to eat it several times and after, it will become delicious”. There was a store where there were very pretty clothes but very expensive, what a shame! I wanted a tartan scarf! In the afternoon, we went to Abbotsford, the residence where Sir Walter Scott, a famous Scottish writer lived. He wrote Ivanhoe for example.
