The consequences of slavery:
For three hundred years, European ships took black people as slaves from Africa to America and the West Indies. Most of the slaves worked on sugar and cotton plantations. There were so many slaves in the West Indies that black people became the majority of the population. In the USA, there were a lot of slaves in the south; whereas in the North, there were no sugar or cotton plantations, so slaves weren’t needed, and until the 19th century there weren’t many black people there. But a lot of black people hated the South, and when they were freed, they went to live and work in northern industrial cities like New York. Before 1865, in the south of the USA, slaves were bought and sold in the same way as animals.

Traduis Most of the slaves: la plupart des esclaves
Weren’t needed=weren’t necessary
Propose pour « slaves weren’t needed », une traduction qui commence par « on »
On n’en avait pas besoin
2) Expliquer à l’aide d’un mot de la même famille.
Northern est un adjectif dérivé, formé à partir de la base north.
Traduction de northern industrial cities :

Réponds en français aux questions suivantes.

1) Qui a transporté les Noirs d’Afrique ? Ce sont les Européens.
2) Versqu’elle quelle direction ? Vers l’Amérique et les Antilles.
3) Pour quelles raisons ? Pour qu’ils travaillent dans les plantations de sucre et coton.
4) Pourquoi furent-ils moins nombreux dans le nord que dans le sud des Etats-Unis ?
Parce qu’il n’y a pas de plantations de sucre et coton dans le Nord.
5) Pourquoi la situation a-t-elle changé après la Guerre de Sécession ?
Car ils ont été vendus comme des bêtes.
