it looks like if / it looks as if
    Message de speedtiti posté le 04-04-2007 à 10:47:53 (S | E | F | I)

    Hello !

What's the difference between "it looks as if..." and 'it looks like if..." ?

Are they both correct ? If so, is there a special use of them ?

    Thanks for helping me !

    Hello,

    The first one is correct.
But "It looks like if" is not correct

    You can say
"It looks as if it had been painted"
"It looks as if he's ready to go"
So : it looks as if + sentence

"It looks like a new one"
"It looks like someone had painted it"
So : it looks like + noun or sentence (but no "if")

    Bye bye
