    Hello!
    I came across this sentence while I was preparing a lesson about comparatives for my intermediate students. The sentence says:
    4. John is a ______________________________(good) gardener than Stuart.
    I wonder whether the answer would be something like:
    *John is a better gardener than Stuart.
    Do you think that this answer makes sense?
    For me, I guess the correct structure of this sentence might be:
    John, the gardener, is better thatn Stuart.
    I'm looking forward to receiving a convincing answer.

    Perhaps you can try this kind of sentence:

    In gardening, Jhon is better than Stuart.

    "John is a better gardener than Stuart" is perfectly correct.
