    Construction/ phrase
    Message de rapy73 posté le 25-06-2016 à 18:21:01 (S | E | F)
    Bonjour,
J'ai une phrase dans laquelle il n'y a pas de in pourquoi ?
There are a lot of big office buildings downtown
Je mettrais bien un "in the" entre buildings et downtown ???
    Merci pour vos avis.

    Hello!
Ici, downtown est un adverbe donc pas besoin de préposition. C'est comme home, "I'm going home" (pas de "to" avant home car home est un adverbe).xxx
    Bonne journée !

    Hello,
In this case "downtown" is not a noun but it's an adverb of place. So, you don't need a preposition before it.
    Please check the following examples:
    I'm going home right now.
    He lives downstairs from us.
You can sit anywhere you like.
Do you want to go somewhere else?
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards.
