    Hi everybody,

When do you use ( to be + past particable participle) in the passive ?

ex : Many people have to be traced.

Is it for something that must be done in the future?

have to ( be + pp ) and also (for something to be pp )

    Is it correct ?

    thank you a lot.

    Hello,

Yes you are right. 'Have to' stands for 'must' in the present tense.

The windows have to be cleaned = the windows must be cleaned.
...........will have to be cleaned. (using 'must' is impossible)
...........had to be cleaned. (using 'must' would be confusing)

    Regards.
