    About conditional/gotten
    Message from hafor posted on 03-12-2011 at 14:00:32 (D | E | F)
    Hello,

Can you help me please? I have a
    question:
She (get) _______ promoted last year, if she (not argue) hadn't argued with the boss.

The answer given by the test result is (would have got).
But I'm confusing about it, I think the right answer is (would have gotten),
    can anyone explain it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

This is a site to learn British English, that's why you can read 'got'.

    The difference is:
    got
    gotten

    Hello

Would have gotten is correct in American English but is never used in British English. This site favours British English, so if you are learning American English, you need to know that there are differences between the two forms of English. Egads laddie!
