Hello,
Both American and British accents are alike in their grammar structure because they are accents of a language: English
British English (BrE) is the form of English used in the United Kingdom. It includes all English dialects used within the United Kingdom.
American English (AmE) is the form of English used in the United States. It includes all English dialects used within the United States.
But there are some slight differences in pronunciation of some words.for example in British accent they don't pronounce "r" at the end of a word except there is another word following beginning with vowel sound.
a few words are spelled different in American English: plow/plough(Br) or favor/favour(Br) or center/centre(Br)
