    I don't know how to include a link about this topic, so I'll give you a definition taken from a dictionary, exactly
    'The American Heritage Dictionary' it means:
    "a). The way in which words are put together to form phrases and sentences.
    b). The branch of grammar dealing with the formation of phrases and sentences"


    PS.- I don't know if we are allowed to copy from a text written in a dictionary because of author rights. If the moderator thinks I'm not, don't hesitate to delete it.

    According to what I have studied in linguistics :
    syntax is the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language
    Sorry I have no idea about the source of this definition
