    Hello
how are you? Could you please help me?
    What does near-run mean?
    What is a near-run thing?
    Thank you for your answers.

    Hello,

A near-run thing means that it went one way but it could have gone the other way. Everything was / is possible, one way or the other, depending on the situation of course!
    Have a nice day,
    Nick

Well, an exam for example could be a near-run thing. It may turn out in a positive way (you have 'good questions') but it may also be negative because the questions this time are too difficult or you didn't have time to study the whole course.
So an interview, a first date with a girl...anything you are not sure of, you can't control entirely from the beginning to the end.
    Better or worse?
    Nick

    Hello,
    About "near-run":

Exemples de traduction provenant de sources externes pour 'near-run thing'
The whole Battle of Britain was so new, and in the end such a near-run thing, that it is probably the most tantalizing of all the single episodes of World War II.
La bataille d'Angleterre est tout à fait nouvelle et une affaire extrêmement serrée, ce qui en fait probablement la campagne la plus intéressante de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale.
Yet, like the Battle of Waterloo, the Battle of Britain was a 'near-run thing'.
La Bataille d'Angleterre n'en est pas moins, comme celle de Waterloo, une affaire très serrée.
    See you.
