    Cash for /in cash for
    Message from jandark posted on 06-12-2013 at 11:27:25 (D | E | F)
    Hello ,
is it correct to say :
"My neighbour paid cash for his house three years ago."?
I would add "in" before "cash". Without preposition it sounds like :"He paid ransom for his house ."
    Thank you for your answers.

    Hello,

I don't think 'paid cash' is incorrect, and in fact I do hear it from time to time.
Although it might be a little more common to say either 'paid in cash' or 'paid with cash'.
For other forms of payment we usually use with, via, or by. So 'I paid via/by credit card' or 'I paid with a check'
    Hope this helps.
