    Hi everyone

    Could you help me please?
My question is: why is the article A with uniform?
The first letter in this word is ( U ) and it is a vowel, isn't it?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hello!

"U" is indeed a vowel, but how do you pronounce the word "uniform"?
    "Youh-", don't you?
Then make up a rule and we'll check it!

    See you!

    Hello,
we use "an" in front of a vowel SOUND, whatever the actual written vowel might be:
    an island / an idiot
    an old man
    an odd situation:
    an elephant
    an eel
    an uneasy situation
    an ultimate décision
    an ugly scar
    an ape / an eight
    an appetite
    an excellent book

But y is prononced like ja in German (j], a consonant sound:
    a yellow car.

and u in uniform, united, ubiquitous, UFO, usage, utility, is also pronounced like the consonant [j], so there is no need for "an" extra "n".

    And so came the rule...

    I would also add:
    - a hospital: you pronounce the "h"
    - an hour: you don't pronounce the "h"

    "An idiot I am! A uniform I don't wear!"
You could sing the rule! Lot of fun, lot of skill!
