    Adverbials/help
    Message from passenger75 posted on 02-08-2015 at 13:30:16 (D | E | F)
    Hi,
    could you help me please?
"When I don't see him very often, I try to keep in touch via chatting through the internet". I think something is wrong with it but I can't explain.
Well, I think we shouldn't use an adverb of frequency here... maybe we'd better replace "very often" by "for sometime" because a period of time is implied not the number of times we visit each other.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
very often can be seen as awkward, it depends how you feel the sentence:
    some variations:
"When I don't see him as often as I would like, I try to keep in touch via chatting through the internet".
"When I don't see him for some time, I try to keep in touch via chatting through the internet".
"If I don't see him very often, I try to keep in touch via chatting through the internet".
"Since I don't see him very often, I try to keep in touch via chatting through the internet".
"Since I only see him from time to time,I try to keep in touch via chatting through the internet".
"When I haven't heard from him for a while, I try to keep in touch via chatting through the internet".
