    Hello,
when you fall down, you lose your balance and fall on the ground. Or a plane can fall down and crash.
If you car falls apart, it means it is very old and breaks down regularly.
See Bonnie Tyler's song,"A Total Eclipse of the Heart":

    Once upon a time
    I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
    There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
