EXEMPLES D'EXPRESSIONS QUI N'ONT PAS LE MEME SENS EN ANGLAIS BRITANNIQUE ET EN ANGLAIS US (contribution de blueturtle) :
1. "to wash up" in American English means to wash your face and hands, not to wash the dishes ... so if you offer to help someone wash up, that person had better be a child.
to wash up = (US) se laver le visage et les mains | (GB) laver la vaisselle
2. in American English, to "knock someone up"
means "to get a woman pregnant" and has nothing to do with waking
someone up!
to knock someone up = (US) mettre quelqu'un en cloque - (GB) réveiller
