    How to count uncountable nouns !


    Uncountable nouns refer to things we cannot count; we can't count water, rice.

      we can't say:     one water

       two waters

       three rices

    But we sometimes need to explain the quantity of something which is uncountable. This can be done by using appropriate words.

       a glass of water

      two bottles of water

      three grains of rice

    Here are some of these words.         

      advice

       information

       piece            furniture

       luggage

       news

       Let me give you a piece of advice

      

       chocolate

       bar                soap

       butter

       This is the last bar of soap

      

       cider

       bowl             soup

       rice

    Some more examples:

       a loaf of bread

       a plate of pasta

      a chunk of meat, of cheese     

       a slice of ham, of meat
