    Vocabulary: poultry and game birds...

There are several sorts and sizes of ways of raising fowlPoultry raising exists on a small scale, in  farms, in chicken houses or more extensively, fowl can be raised either in batteries (battery-cages and growout houses) which are beginning to be seriously regulated, or in what is called free-range farming. The birds are free to roam in the daytime and confined at night or in bad weather.

Organic poultry (for eggs and meat) is now often required by consumers. The fowl can be raised freely (free-range poultry) and be protected at night in closed shelters, sheds or barns.

Other species of fowl are less common. They can grow in a farm, or in  the wilderness, living a happier life, if they do not meet the hunters... They are game birds or wild fowls.

                         A pheasant                       A partridge
