The Ghost of Genny Castle 1 by J.Escott

Claire was the name of a fifteen-year-old girl. Before Christmas, she went to visit her aunt Minnie because her parents were away.  Her aunt was living in a village called “The village of Little Genny”. When the little girl arrived at her aunt’s , she saw an old castle; it was a tall stone building. Claire was very interested in that old castle,and she wanted to visit it before she went back home. Aunt Minnie warned the little girl and informed her that this castle was a dangerous place, but Claire felt that this castle might hide a big secret. Later, when the girl went out to visit the village she heard many stories about this castle.

An old man called “Walter Burge” and his orange cat “Alexa” were living in a cottage near the old castle; in fact, people from the village were afraid of him. They thought that there was a ghost in his castle. One afternoon, Claire decided to visit the castle secretly,and when she arrived near the “Black Tower” she saw Mr. Burge, but he did not see her. Suddenly a big stone fell down from the tower. Claire jumped and ran back to her aunt’s ; she was scared. Mr. Burge heard a voice and saw the girl running but he could not catch her. When the girl entered her aunt’s house she saw a Christmas tree. Aunt Min told the little girl to look for some lights; they were in the other little room

In the morning, when Claire went to look for the lights, she found a small storybook, she hid it and went to her room and started reading; “A long time ago a man was living in the castle, and when a new servant came there, things began to go wrong because in fact she was a witch. Soon his daughter fell sick. He asked the witch for help, but she refused, and informed him that three years before he had burnt her sister “Alexa”. After a week his daughter died. Then he took the witch to the “Black Tower “ and burnt her”. Since then people  say that they see a green-eyed ghost on the top of the tower  every night.
Claire stopped reading.
