    Mixed Types of Verb

Please read my article before taking my test.

I'll give you some examples, please read them carefully.

    1. She has known him for a few years

She has been knowing him for a few years.

Which sentence is correct? The first one or the second one?

'Know' cannot be used like that. For example, can you say 'I am knowing him'? Of course, not. You cannot use the verbs which represent a kind of emotion here.

So, this is why the right answer is the first one.

    2. I make him do my homework.

In this situation, 'I' am very lazy. I make someone do the homework for me. When my teacher asks me,I can say 'I got my homework done!'.

Am I lying? No,I did not say who did the homework, I just say 'done'.

3.1)I have been to Las Vegas.

3.2)I have gone to Las Vegas,

    Read these sentences.According to 1)Am I in Las Vegas now?And 2)?

Answer:1)I am not.2)I'm on the way to Las Vegas or I'm in Las Vegas.

4.She does her homework every day.

This is a long-term action,so we use 'does',not did or other types of do.

5.Katherine would like to see her grandfather.

'Would like to do something' in English is nearly the same as 'want to do something',but not very completely.

    6. She's got some keys.

    'She's' means 'she has'.
