    Hello

There is a sentence in a book: He drives a sports car.
What does this s in the word sports stand for?
This is not possessive or plural. How can we add the article " a" before it.
    Also there is no apostrophe.
    Thank you so much.

    Hello
"Sports car" is a small low car with a high-powered engine, and generally seats two people. This car is not just for sport, it is desighned for speed and fun to drive.
