    Word order/help
    Message from capi posted on 25-10-2022 at 18:55:59 (D | E | F)
    Hello,
I have a question about the "test d'anglais n°12510" (Mise en ordre des phrases).

At the first question, I answered: "He looks nice but he is strange."
The right answer is: "He is nice but he looks strange."

Is my proposition possible or false?
Please, could you use simple language in your answer? I am a beginner.
And also correct my mistakes in this post!
    Thank you!

    Hello,
If you read carefully the sentence you could see a full stop just after the word 'strange'.
    Punctuation is always important!

    Hello
I had a few problems doing the exercice myself and reported two sentences where more than one answer were correct.

Both of your sentences would be correct.
One could always argue that "he looks nice" is an impression and "he is strange" a certainty and that it would be more logical the other way around, he is nice but he looks strange, but it needn't be that way.

    Hello,
I agree with you but I must insist on the fact you have to find the full stop after a word in each sentence.

    Hello
I agree that the first word starts with a capital letter and the last word is followed by a fullstop.
Strange being the last word in the two sentences, He looks nice but he is strange./ He is nice but he looks strange., it might be better to use more specific verbs, like :
He is nice but he speaks awfully slowly.

    Hello,

Ok, you are right to change the words
I modified that sentence ...'He is nice but he speaks awfully slowly.'
That test was published in 2006 ...it is nearly a new test from today

    Wish you a nice evening!

Thank you very much for your answers! I did not see the full stop.
In the future, I will be more careful with punctuation.
    Your discussions are very interesting.
    Have a good evening.
