    Message from mohammad51 posted on 16-03-2023 at 11:29:30 (D | E | F)
    Hello
Please get me help me with these questions.
    Thank you in advance
    -----------

Rewrite the following sentences using participle clauses.

My suggested answers are below each question I uploaded.

1)Because I was forced to spend the day indoors, I explored the old house.

Forced to spend the day indoors, I explored the old house. This needs past participle to replace the passive structure

2)As they had never been to the house before, they didn’t realise that there was a secret room.

Having never been to the house before, they didn't realise that there was a secret room
    .
This needs perfect participle ( passive ) to emphasize the first action that happened earlier

3)Had the man who had been waiting in the secret room been a ghost?

Had the man having been waited ..... I see ( not possible ) Not sure of the answer ?

perhaps I use ( was auxiliary ) Was the man having been waited in the secret room being a ghost ?

4)Even though I was scared, I was keen to investigate.

Being scared, even though , I was keen to investigate. ?

Even though I was being scared .............

    Hello
Thank you very much dear teacher gerondif

I don't know how it goes out of my mind ( relative clause \ reducing )

3)Had the man who had (been) waiting in the secret room been a ghost.

I see you changed been to seen ? Perhaps typed in error

Thank you again. You helped me many times.

No, seen is what I mean.
Had the man waiting in the secret room been a ghost ? if a present participe is ok with the exercise.

If you use wait in the passive voice, it means this :
The man waited upon was strange = The man I was serving looked strange, the man I had been waiting upon looked strange.
A waiter waits on you, is at your service.
