    'good' or 'well'

    „good“ or „well“
I think that is an interest theme.
When you shall use “good” and when “well”
Drinking milk will do you good.
    The people must live well.

    Hello:
Drinking milk will do something (which is) good for you.(good is an adjective)
Drinking milk will do you some good (good is a noun)
Drinking milk will give you good health ( health is a noun)

These people must live well, comfortably, lavishly. It is an adverb of manner which applies to the verb live, as it should.

    Hello,

I also agree with smartway. However, I am just wondering if I can put the sentence in another way:

    Well, he speaks good English.

Grammatically, it's not wrong but how about the meaning? Does it sound the same as "he speaks English very well"?

    Best regards,

    May

    Hi,
Yes, you can say 'He speaks good English'. 'good' is an adjective. You can also say 'He speaks English well.' 'well' is an adverb here.
    Best Wishes
