    Tense/describe a past trip
    Message from kent1388 posted on 03-11-2016 at 08:51:28 (D | E | F)
    Hello all,
I am not sure what tense should be used to describe a past trip.
    for example:
"I visited to Malaysia last year. I had planned the trip for 2 months, and the reason why we chose to visit Malaysia was that we both "love or loved" sunny place"
    Thanks for any reply.
    Kent

    Hello,
"I visited to Malaysia last year. I had planned the trip for 2 months, and the reason why we chose to visit Malaysia was that we both "love or loved" sunny place"
The action took place last year...it is finished and dated; you have to use the past simple, no choice = visited!
Your sentence would be correct if it was written:
"I visited Malaysia last year. I planned the trip for 2 months, and the reason why we chose visiting Malaysia was that we both love sunny places" ...love is ok except if you don't love sunny places anymore.
