METHODOLOGY N°1: WRITING A BUSINESS LETTER

 

 

1 = Name and address of the sender (use a headed notepaper)

2 = References of the document: initials, letters, numbers

3 = Optional: "Private and confidential" for confidential documents

4 = The date, in English. For example: September, 10th 2001

5 = Name and address of the addressee

6 = Name of the person who will read this letter

"Attention: The Manager / Mr. / Mrs. / Ms."

7 = Greetings: Dear Sirs / Dear Mr. / Dear Mrs. / Dear Ms.

8 = Subject of the letter

9 = Body of the letter

10 = Greetings : "Yours faithfully / Yours sincerely".

11 = Signature

12 = Name and job of the person who has just signed

13 = Optional

"Encl." (enclosed) for attached documents

"copy to" if this letter has been sent to several people
