Comparison - English lesson
Allow you to compare two people or two objects.
- Comparison of equality: 'as' + adjective + 'as'
=> His neighbours are as noisy as mine.
- Comparison of inferiority: 'less' + adjective + 'than'
=> She is less clever than her sister.
- Comparison or adjective of inferiority :
Short adjective: adjective + 'er' +'than'
=> It is darker than outside!
Long adjective: 'more' + adjective + 'than'
=> You should be more careful than that!
Irregular:
good, well | better than |
bad | worse than |
far | farther than |
Ending in -'y' => -ier :
happy | happier |
early | earlier |
Short vowel between 2 consonants:
big | bigger |
fat | fatter |
Exercise :
