Language and gestures
Signs used while communicating.
Italians are famous for gesticulating but the English also express themselves with facial expressions and gestures.
Let’s see the most common ones.
To nod : to say “yes” with one’s head
To shrug : to move one’s shoulders in sign of disinterest or indifference
To wave : to move one’s hand to greet or say goodbye
To stoop : to incline your body to show deference or submission
To kneel : to touch the ground with one’s knees and remain in that position
To wink (at) : to close one eyelid to suggest something to someone else
To roll one’s eyes : to lift your eyes to show that you’re bothered by someone
To curtsy : to bend one’s body in sign of deference and respect
To make a grimace : facial expression to show disgust or disapproval
To frown : to contract the brows in sign of disapproval or displeasure
To make the V-sign : ( with one’s palm outwards it means victory, otherwise it is a very rude gesture).
To give the high-five : to touch the palm of person’s hand with the palm of yours in sign of congratulation.
Generally young people give the high-five to show approval or congratulation.
