    Paulo Coelho is also known as "Paulo Coelho De Souza". He is a famous Brazilian novelist among the most widely read writers in the world.

    Paulo Coelho was born in 1947, in Rio de Janeiro. His father Pedro, was an engineer, and his mother Lygia was a housewife.From his early age, Paulo wanted to become a writer, however he was totally discouraged by his parents who dreamed to see him as a future lawyer.

    In order to satisfy his parents' desire, Paulo abandoned his dream of becoming a writer and enrolled at a law school;unfortunately,he couldn't concentrate on his studies at all,and he dropped them out after one year.

    Paulo became a hippie and travelled all over South America, North Africa, Mexico, and Europe.When he came back to Brazil, he worked as a songwriter. Besides, before pursuing his writing career, he worked as an actor, as a journalist, and a theatre director.

    In 1982, he published his first book " Hell Archives", but it wasn't successful.Because of his famous book " The Alchemist", Paulo Coelho became a major author at the international level; and the book has been translated into eighty different languages. After his huge success, the writer has written a lot of beautiful and interesting novels, such as: "Life"," The Winner Stands Alone","Love" and "Spy".

    Today, and because he deeply believed in his personal legend, Paulo Coelho has become one of the most popular contemporary novelists in the world.
