Moscow Metro
The Moscow Metro is one of the largest transportation systems in the world. It includes 214 stations, 14 lines and over 10 000 daily trains , at intervals of 90 seconds during peak hours, transporting more than 8 million passengers per day.
The Moscow Metro was opened in May 1935. The first underground route connected Sokolniki to Okhotny Ryad then branching to Park Kultury and Smolenskaya. Thirteen stations, constructed as luxurious palaces, welcomed first visitors at 7 o'clock in the morning.
Every year the Metro celebrates its birthday cheering passengers by pleasant surprises and presents, preparing an extended celebration program which traditionally includes a parade of trains and retro cars, concerts and performances by famous people at stations and in underground passages.
