    Well at  first sight you say,how could present participles cause confusion!!ok

    Sure it can cause confusion because present participle can be either an adjective or part of the verb .

     

    A present participle is the ing form of the verb.It is part of the verb when it is preceded by some form of the verb be ,and it is an adjective when it is not accompanied by some form of the verb be .

     

     Example1:the bus is arriving at the station now.

     

     In this example the present particple is part of the verb because it is accompanied by is

                       

     Example2:the bus arriving at the station now is an hour late.

                

     In this example the present participle arriving is an adjective because it is not accompanied by some form of the verb be .

     

     I think it is  clear now

    Complete the sentences to give them a meaning.
