Present continuous tense
We use the present continuous tense:
For an action that happened at the moment.
For an action that is happening now and continues.
For an action or event in the future that had a plan or preparation.
For a temporary event or condition.
To emphasise a continuing or repeated action.
Important notice:
Some verbs can't be used in present continuous tense:
Agree, promise,surprise, like, love, hate, hear, see, smell, taste, believe, know, understand...
Affirmative form:
Subject + auxiliary verb BE (am, is,are)] + main verb (infinitive) + ing.
He is working on his project now.
Negative form:
Subject + auxiliary verb BE (am, is,are)] + not + main verb (infinitive) + ing.
Georges is not eating ice-creams anymore.
Interrogative form:
Auxiliary verb BE (am, is, are) + subject + main verb (infinitive) + ing?
Are those men playing soccer every afternoon?
