    A current trend is developing rapidly because of social networks. You have to show yourself in action

    (exercising, cooking, dancing, etc.) What you're doing so terribly interesting that you feel it's your "duty"

    to show your "friends", "relatives" and "followers" how good it is and then try to "influence" them.

    You become a "model", an "influencer". 

     

    Here, in this lesson, I will only give you the vocabulary and idioms about the topic, but certainly not try to

    encourage you to become "an influencer" yourselves...

     To coax somebody into doing something 
     To have clout (familiar)/ have a long arm

    EXPRESSIONS and IDIOMS: 

    - to have a (strong) hold: a strong and secure influence on someone

    - To have a reputation for 

    - pressure (one) into (doing something): to try to force, influence, or persuade one to do something 

    or act a certain way.

    - yield to pressure: to give into outside forces urging someone to do something.

    nose of wax:malleable or accommodating nature; a flexible or yielding attitude.

    brainwashing:a method of changing an individual's attitudes or allegiances through the use of drugs, 

    torture, or psychological techniques; (any form of indoctrination). 

    in [someone's] pocket: To be under another's influence or control

    play both ends against the middle: To play two opposing forces off against each other to one's own advantage. 

    twist [someone] around one's little finger :To have complete control over, to have limitless influence upon, to have

     at one's beck and call; also wind or turn or have [someone] around one's little finger. 

    under [someone's] thumb: Under the influence, power, or control of; subordinate, subservient, or subject to.

    play cat and mouse with 

    - the power behind the throne
